Irena Rivitskaya to Perform Guest Concert at KU March 6
Kutztown, PA (03/02/2017) — Pianist Irena Rivitskaya will present a concert on Monday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Georgian Room of Old Main. The concert is free and open to the public.
Born in Moldova, Rivitskaya began playing the piano at age six and at age nine won the National Competition of Moldova. Her repertoire encompasses works from the Baroque to Modern, with a particular interest in the music of Beethoven, Chopin and Russian composers, whose pieces she will be performing at the recital.
Her orchestral engagements include Moldova State Philharmonic, Moldova National Orchestra, Boise State Symphony Orchestra, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Indiana University Symphony Orchestra, South Kansas Symphony Orchestra, Hays Symphony Orchestra, Salina Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and Powder River Symphony Orchestra.
Ravitskaya received her doctoral degree in piano from Indiana University and her master’s degree from Boise State University. She is currently an associate professor of music at Fort Hays State University.
