Kutztown University to Host Summer Filmmaking Institute

Kutztown, PA (04/19/2017) — The Kutztown University Department of Cinema, Television and Media Production will host a Summer Filmmaking Institute (SFI) June 19-23.

SFI is a week-long filmmaking program designed to provide an intense and rewarding introduction to the ever-evolving world of digital filmmaking. It offers an introduction to the theories and techniques of digital movie making for students of all ages.

Working with state-of-the-art technology, students will design, shoot and edit films of their own creation with guidance from Kutztown University faculty. Projects focus on equipment and techniques and each student will produce their own film while also contributing to a larger scale production. Each student will finish the program with two completed projects that can be used in their filmmaking portfolio.

Students will also have the opportunity to go into the new state-of-the-art KUTV production truck to see how a live video production works as well as explore the possibilities of a career in video and/or broadcast.

At the end of the program, the students' final films will be celebrated in a festival screening open to invited guests.

Registration fees are $750 for commuting students and $850 for those who choose to reside on campus during the institute.
