Pianist Daniel Immel to Present "Los Pasos del Corazon" April 21

Kutztown, PA (04/17/2017) — The Kutztown University Department of Music will present a "Los Pasos del Corazón" (The Heart's Footsteps) themed faculty recital on Friday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Georgian Room of Old Main. The concert is free and open to the public.

The free concert will feature KU faculty member, pianist Dr. Daniel Immel, as he shares Latin, Brazillian and Spanish piano music for the evening. The program will also feature composers Barrios, Albeniz, Palomo, Piazzolla, Villa-Lobos, Mompou, Nazareth and Ponce.

Immel teaches piano as an assistant professor at KU. His musical education includes performance degrees from Boise State University, Indiana University, University of Texas at Austin and the American Conservatory, Fontainebleau, France.

Immel's solo and collaborative performances have led him to perform in the United States, Europe, Canada and Russia. He was recognized as a finalist in the Vienna International Music Competition in 2008 and received second prize in the 2007 Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition in New York. Some of Immel's notable collaborator's include Cypress String Quartet and saxophonist Todd Oxford.

The New York Concert Review commended his ability to "successfully transform himself from empathetic collaborator to independent soloist several time and rightly received equal billing."
