Beer and Giordano Repeat on All-PSAC Women's Golf Team

Kutztown University women's golfer Hope Giordano of Southampton, PA 18966 earned her second career All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) honors on Thursday with All-PSAC Second Team recognition, as voted on by the league coaches.

Madison Beer and Hope Giordano both earned All-PSAC Second Team honors.

Beer earned Second Team recognition for the second straight year. She finished her junior season with an 83.8 average (t-10th all-time) after competing in 18 rounds. In the fall, she finished fourth at the PSAC Championships and had the best round of her career at the time with a two-round score of 157 (77, 80).

Then in the spring at the Randolph-Macon Invite, Beer took sixth and had the best round of her career with a 74 in the second round, tied for the third-best round in school history on a par-72 course. She took home the gold at KU's Spring Invitational, where she shot an 81. She had seven top-10 finishes in the 2015-16 season.

Heading into her senior year, Beer ranks second in KU history with an 83.8 career average. Beer can become the first three-time All-PSAC golfer in school history next year. She is a two-time Dean's List recipient and PSAC Scholar-Athlete.

Giordano closes her career as the single-season and career record holder for lowest average. The senior averaged an 81.3 this year, second all-time behind her junior season of 80.4. She was named All-PSAC Second Team this year, earned First Team honors last year and was named the Team MVP each of her two years at KU.

Her lowest score of the season was a 75 at both the Randolph-Macon and ESU Invites. In the fall, she tied for 10th at the PSAC Championships. Her two-round score of 154 on the par-72 course at the ESU Invitational allowed her to finish third overall, her 18th top-10 finish of her career.

The duo helped KU go 5-for-5 in its spring invites, a school-record for consecutive tournament wins.

California (PA)'s Carla Maestre was named the PSAC Golfer of the Year for the third straight year and was one of three Vulcans names to the First Team. Danielle Greene of Millersville was named the Freshman of the Year while Millersville head coach Scott Vandegrift was tabbed Coach of the Year.
