Brandon Raguz Named to 2016 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

The Kutztown University track & field programs earned team and individual academic awards from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2015-16 season on Thursday.

Brandon Raguz of Chalfont, PA (18914) was one of four individual winners for KU.

The women's track & field team earned an All-Academic Team award for holding a 3.29 GPA last year. A total of 117 women's teams and 66 men's teams earned the distinction as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher.

2016 marks the ninth straight year that the women's track & field team has earned the award.

Individually, four Golden Bears earned All-Academic honors by holding a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and reaching a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either the indoor or outdoor seasons.

On the women's side, seniors Corinne Manela and Emma Sullivan and sophomore Macey Tanseco earned All-Academic status. Brandon Raguz represented the men's team with his first career All-Academic honor.

Raguz is KU's first male honoree since Kori Meshaw in 2013.

Sullivan, an All-American and CoSIDA Academic All-American this year and two-time national qualifier in the pole vault, graduated in May as a three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic Team member and seven-time Dean's List honoree. She was named to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Winter Top 10 and was the PSAC Indoor Champion in the pole vault this year. She graduates with the indoor and outdoor school-record.

Manela also graduated in May and earns her first career USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honor after posting her first provisional mark this year in the 10,000m. She was a six-time Dean's List student and four-year PSAC Scholar-Athlete, while also earning two All-Region awards this outdoor season.

Tanseco posted an NCAA provisional in the indoor shot put this year to earn her first USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honor. She has been a Dean's List student in all four of her semesters at KU, is a two-year PSAC Scholar-Athlete and has earned All-Region honors in the shot put in both the indoor and outdoor seasons in her career.

Raguz posted NCAA provisional marks in both the indoor and outdoor seasons in the pole vault to earn his first career USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honor. He is a two-time All-PSAC and All-Region competitor in the pole vault.
