Dakota May Named Academic All-NTCA

2016 Jun 30

Dakota May of Conklin, New York (13748) was one of six members of the Kutztown University women's bowling team to maintain a 3.4 cumulative GPA last year, earning her a spot on the Academic All-National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Team on Thursday.

Seniors Kayla Maselkevich, Dakota May and Amanda Wilson earned their fourth career Academic All-NTCA honor.

Graduate student Ashley Nedley along with sophomore Melanie Aptaker and freshman Felicia Trievel also earned Academic All-NTCA recognition.

This is the sixth straight year Kutztown has had representation on the Academic All-NTCA Team, and the fourth in a row it has honored six or more student-athletes.

The three seniors - Maselkevich, May and Wilson - graduate as four-time Academic All-NTCA honorees, four-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athletes, and combined for 14 Dean's List honors and five D2ADA Academic Achievement Awards.

May highlighted the group last month with the East Coast Conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.

Looking at the returners, Nedley earns her second NTCA honor one day after being awarded her first PSAC Scholar-Athlete recognition. She is a two-time Dean's List student. Aptaker is a two-time honoree from the NTCA and PSAC, and is also a two-time Dean's List honoree. Trievel, a freshman, is a member of the KU Honors Program and earned NTCA, PSAC and Dean's List honors in her first year at KU.

163 student-athletes from 32 schools are represented in the yearly honor. To be named Academic All-NTCA, a student-athlete must have maintained a 3.4 cumulative GPA for the 2015-16 school year.

The National Tenpin Coaches Association wants to recognize outstanding academic achievement, and is proud to salute these student athletes.
