Emma Osle Awarded Gold Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University

Emma Osle of Sinking Spring, PA, has been awarded a Gold Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Osle is a studio art and art history double major. She received the award in the categories of original artwork of high quality, successfully completed research projects, artistic performances of high quality and outstanding service to the Kutztown University community.

During her time at KU, Osle has been a volunteer for the Marlin and Regina Miller Art Gallery, worked as a research assistant under Dr. Daniel Haxall, been a tutor and founded the Art History Club, of which she is the president.

In addition to her work at Kutztown, Osle has also interned and had her artwork featured in museums across southeastern Pennsylvania. Particularly, Osle's artwork was selected in a contest to be installed in the atrium at the State System of Higher Education offices in Harrisburg.

Over the past year, she has conducted research on contemporary artist Teresita Fernandez, which she presented at conferences in both Memphis, Tenn. And Montreal, Quebec.

Osle also volunteers her time directing the color guard unit at Wilson High School, her alma mater. She is a member of the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps.

Osle has consistently achieved dean's list recognition, received KU's Marguerite Bierman Scholarship for Women Studying the Fine Arts, the Sharadin Day Award for Distinguished Achievement and the State System of Higher Education Board of Governors Scholarship.

In the future, she hopes to earn a year-long internship at a major museum and one day continue her education and pursue her doctoral degree.
