Olivia Dettore of New Britain Named to National All-Academic Cross Country Team

2017 Feb 10

Olivia Dettore of New Britain, PA is one of six members of the Kutztown University men's and women's cross country team to receive academic awards from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2016 season.

As teams, both squads needed to hold a team-wide average GPA of 3.0 or higher in order to be recipients of the award. The women held a GPA of 3.38 while the men held a 3.06.

It is the 18th season out of the past 19 that the women's team has been recognized as an All-Academic squad.

Individually, each team had three student-athletes receive the All-Academic honor, which requires a GPA of at least 3.25 and to finish in the top-30 percent of eligible runners at his or her respective regional championships and/or the top half of the field at the NCAA Championships.

For the women, Erin Callaghan, Olivia Dettore and Alexis Dongvort were the three Golden Bears from the women's team to receive the honor. This will be the second year in a row Dettore and Dongvort have earned the award while this is the first time Callaghan has received it.

For the men, the Golden Bears receiving this honor were CJ Bauer, Jose Colon-Cruz and Nick DeGennaro. This is the second time Bauer has received this award in as many years, while Colon-Cruz and DeGennaro both earn their first career All-Academic awards.
