Sullivan Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team

2016 Jun 27

Emma Sullivan of Phoenixville, Pa. (19460) of the Kutztown University women's track & field team had her academic excellence recognized Thursday, as she was named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Second Team for women's track & field and cross country.

The Phoenixville native graduated in May with a 3.91 GPA and a degree in communication design. She is KU's second Academic All-American of the year (Anna Behm, field hockey), the second all-time for the KU women's track & field program and the first since Laura Kline's First Team honor in 2006.

Sullivan is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection. She was named to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Winter Top 10 in March, earned Dean's List honors seven times at KU, is a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, and has twice been named to the All-Academic Team by the coaches association.

Just this year alone, Sullivan won her first career PSAC Championship and earned her first All-America honor at the NCAA Indoor Championships. She finished seventh at nationals with an eye-opening height of 12-10, breaking her own school record.

Sullivan also owns the outdoor record at 12-5.50 and wrapped up her career at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Bradenton, Fla. last month. She hangs her hat on six career All-Region accolades and four All-PSAC performances. She finished fourth at this year's PSAC Outdoor Championships.

Sullivan was also named the LVAIAW Most Outstanding Athlete for women's field in the area, and was voted this year's KU Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
