Cirucci Named Recipient of 2019 John P. Schellenberg Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning

Kutztown, PA (09/11/2019) — Dr. Angela Cirucci, assistant professor of communication studies, has been awarded the 2019 John P. Schellenberg Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Kutztown University. The award was presented at KU's Faculty and Staff Convocation and Celebration Friday, Aug. 23.

As a researcher and theorist, Cirucci began at KU in 2015. Her work explores the symbolic meaning of programming languages and the intersection of institutional practice and user knowledge, with a focus on social network sites. She has presented her research at many conferences including the Association of Internet Researchers (AoIR), the International Communication Association, and the National Communication Association.

Cirucci received her doctorate from Temple University's Klein College of Media and Communication. She was previously a senior doctoral fellow and a HASTAC (Humanities, Arts, Science and Technology Alliance and Collaboratory) Digital Humanities Scholar. She received a Master of Arts from Temple in broadcasting, telecommunication and mass media and a Bachelor of Arts from Rowan University.

The John P. Schellenberg Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning was established by John P. Schellenberg, emeriti professor of physical science, faculty alumni and friends to recognize an early career faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding work.
