Invitation to Cover: Community College of Philadelphia and Kutztown University to Sign a Dual Admissions Agreement
Philadelphia, Pa. (09/19/2017) — WHAT: Community College of Philadelphia and Kutztown University are entering into a dual admissions transfer partnership that will provide students with a seamless transfer path to Kutztown and save them money.
Transfer has been and continues to be a popular goal for a large proportion of incoming community college students. The U.S. Department of Education indicates that between 50 percent to 80 percent of all incoming community college students seek to transfer and earn a bachelor's degree. Moreover, community college is an affordable route to a degree.
The structure of the program between the College and Kutztown is designed under a core-to-core agreement that makes the transfer process more streamlined. Kutztown agrees to accept all the credits embedded in the College's Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.) or Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees as meeting all the requirements for general education, which currently consist of university core requirements. Core-to-core applies to all students at the College who earn an A.A., A.S. and A.A.S. without submitting a dual admissions intent form.
A student that selects to enter Kutztown under dual admissions can do so before earning no more than 30 college-level credits and is advised to meet with counselors from both the College and Kutztown to develop a course-taking strategy. Students must earn a cumulative GPA of 2.0. Both full-time and part-time students who enter under dual admissions are eligible for scholarships.
The College currently offers 14 dual admissions partnerships with colleges and universities across the region.
