KU Associate Vice President for Communications, Marketing and External Affairs to Retire July 28
Kutztown, PA (07/05/2017) — John Green, Kutztown University's associate vice president for Communications, Marketing and External Affairs, has announced his retirement effective July 28.
Green heads a seven-department division at KU which includes University Relations, University Marketing, Intercollegiate Athletics, Sports Medicine, Conference Services, KU Presents and the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center.
Green started at KU in June 2009 after long tenure with the Gannett Company. His many accomplishments through the past eight years have included the development of a marketing department and several marketing campaigns, including the recent "It's Good to Be Golden" re-branding campaign; supervision of University Relations, which coordinated the award-winning KU Sesquicentennial Celebration; and providing leadership for the many successful events hosted by KU Presents, the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center and Conference Services.
Green took on Intercollegiate Athletics and Sports Medicine in 2011 and helped manage several Golden Bear programs through their most successful periods in school history.
"John brought enormous experience from the marketing and public affairs world and we have greatly benefited from his leadership," said Dr. Ken Hawkinson, KU president. "He has had a wide range of responsibilities, and I am so grateful for the fantastic job he did in managing our new rebranding efforts over the last 18 months. I wish him the best as he moves on to the next phase of his life."
Matt Santos, KU's director of University Relations, will serve as interim associate vice president while a search for Green's successor is conducted.
