KU Designated "Voter Friendly Campus" for 2019
Kutztown, PA (03/20/2019) — Kutztown University has been designated as a "Voter Friendly Campus" for the 2019-2020 year. Kutztown is one of 10 institutions in Pennsylvania and three in the State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) to receive this year's designation.
National nonpartisan organizations Campus Vote Project and the National Association of Student Professional Administrators (NASPA) held participating institutions accountable for planning and implementing practices that encouraged their students to register and vote in the 2018 elections and upcoming future elections. The mission of the Voter Friendly Campus designation is to strengthen efforts to help students overcome barriers that can prevent them from participating in the political process.
KU was evaluated based on the campus plan developed by students, faculty, administrators and election partners that included the following four pillars of democratic engagement: voter registration, voter education, voter turnout and students as voter turnouts.
