KU Named PA's No. 1 Value for Best Design & Applied Arts Colleges

Kutztown, PA (02/06/2019) — Kutztown University and its communication design department have been recognized for their great value to students. KU was ranked 12th in the country and No. 1 in Pennsylvania in College Factual's 2019 Best Design & Applied Arts Colleges for the Money.

KU's degree in Communication Design is a Bachelor of Fine Arts program, the preferred degree as stipulated by the American Institute of Graphic Arts and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Communication Design is both Middle States and NASAD accredited.

The communication design department has more than 200 students within the College of Visual and Performing Arts. The four-year curriculum is structured to lay a common foundation of art and design knowledge in the freshman and sophomore years and then to allow building specialized knowledge through upper-level coursework in Graphic Design, Advertising Design, Illustration and Interactive Design.

The best value rankings are part of College Factual's nationwide "Best Colleges for the Money" rankings. Designed to help highlight colleges that deliver high-quality without extreme costs, the overall rankings are compiled for each major and then limited to schools that offer that particular major.

According to College Factual, the "Best Colleges for the Money" are determined by calculating the estimated cost of a college's four-year undergraduate degree based on the average number of grants and scholarships provided in addition to the average number of years it actually takes to complete the four-year degree. This cost is then compared to the school's quality ranking. The bigger the difference between the school's quality and its cost, the more quality education students are getting for the dollar and thus the higher the value for the money.
