KU Recognized for Providing One of the Top Work-Study Financial Aid Programs in the Country

Kutztown, PA (02/22/2019) — Kutztown University has been recognized by LendEDU as an institution that provides some of the most work-study aid to students. Specifically, KU ranked 83 out of 409 schools that were analyzed for the report. On average, KU provides about $2,572 to each work-study participant, second-most in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. Further, KU provided 468 jobs through the work-study program for the most recent academic year.

The work-study program is funded by the Federal Government and administered by KU. Both undergraduate and graduate students can work part-time on- or off-campus jobs in exchange for a paycheck. The hourly pay rate is at least minimum wage with the student working an average 15-hour work week. Pay rates may vary depending on financial need. On- and off-campus part-time job openings can be found on the listed on the Student Employment website; students must have FAFSA on file to apply.

As the cost of higher education increases and debt becomes more necessary to afford that education, work-study programs are becoming an increasingly popular alternative to affording a college degree. Work-study programs also grant students the opportunity to gain valuable experience in fields that they may like to pursue post-graduation. LendEDU has thus compiled this list of schools in an effort to help students make more informed choices pertaining to college costs and financial aid options.

The data within the list was licensed by LendEDU from Peterson's Financial Aid dataset. Data from Peterson's is voluntarily submitted by U.S. colleges and universities that choose to submit their financial aid information. This particular dataset reflects financial aid statistics from the 2016-17 academic year, which is the most current dataset available to the public, and only includes four-year not-for-profit private and public undergraduate colleges and universities.
