KU Set to Kick Off 2019-2020 Academic Year

Kutztown, PA (08/19/2019) — Kutztown University opens the 2019-2020 academic year with special events Friday, Aug. 23 - Sunday, Aug. 25. Classes begin Monday, Aug. 26.

Faculty and Staff Convocation and Celebration
9 a.m., Friday, Aug. 23
Schaeffer Auditorium

The Faculty and Staff Convocation and Celebration is a chance for KU to celebrate all of its achievements and recognize many of the award-winning faculty and staff members. The event will also provide insight on the new initiatives on campus. New employees will be introduced and faculty, staff and student leaders will be acknowledged for their service. The Employees of the Month will be recognized and the Employee of the Year will be announced as well as the Coaches of the Year. A special presentation will be made providing updates on Admissions and the Enrollment Management Plan. The Kutztown University Foundation will also provide an update of their progress this past year, including the building of the Hampton Inn. The event will culminate with the presentation of the Arthur and Isabel Wiesenberger Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Kenneth S. Hawkinson, university president, will close the event with his "State of the University" address.

New Student Move-In Day
Saturday, Aug. 24
South Campus

About 1,400 members of the class of 2023 and transfer students will arrive on the campus of Kutztown University. Students moving into the residence halls will be assisted by hundreds of volunteers from the campus and surrounding community.

Opening Convocation
2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 25
O'Pake Fieldhouse

The President, university leadership and alumni will address the Class of 2023 and commence the 2019-20 academic year. All new freshmen students will be in attendance.
