KU to Host Contemporary Indigenous Writers Lunch April 30
Kutztown, PA (04/16/2019) — Kutztown University will host a Contemporary Indigenous Writers Lunch on Tuesday, April 30, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Lytle 120. The lunch celebrates the endurance and resistance of contemporary Indigenous writers. It will begin with a presentation of readings, music and visuals, followed by a Q&A session. The event is free and open to the public.
Presented by KU graduate students Kayla Ehlinger, Edward Probasco and Kahna Bull, the lunch will feature readings of authors including Tanya Tagaq, Cherie Dimaline and John Trudell, as well as Kahna Bull's own poetry. Other topics within the presentation include current issues Indigenous peoples face today, resources of Indigenous works to include in school curriculums, and how to find and start listening to the voices of more contemporary Indigenous writers.
