KU to Host Workshops Dec. 5 on Future of Title IX and #MeToo Movement

Kutztown, PA (11/27/2018) — Sponsored through the PA Governor's Its On Us Grant, Jessica Davidson, interim executive director of End Rape on Campus (EROC), will host two workshops at Kutztown University on Wednesday, Dec. 5. The first workshop, "The Future of Title IX", will take place at 3 p.m. in room 145 in the Boehm Science Building. The second workshop, "Moving Beyond #MeToo: What Does a Trauma-Informed Future Look Like", will take place at 6 p.m. in room 218 in the McFarland Student Union Building.
Workshops are free to attend and open to the public.
In the "The Future of Title IX" workshop, Davidson and Michelle Carroll, EROC's associate director, will explain the function of EROC, as well as discuss the new changes to Title IX, the future of the movement, and what a survivor-focused Title IX system may look like. A brief Q&A will follow the discussion.
In the "Moving Beyond #MeToo: What Does a Trauma-Informed Future Look Like?" workshop, Davidson will discuss various types of violence and how students can support friends who have experienced it, as well as how institutions can make efforts to be more trauma-informed and help survivors in both the short and long term.
Prior to joining the EROC campaign as managing director in 2017, Davidson served as regional advisor for the It's On Us Campaign, as well as interned at the White House office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs. In her current role she is responsible for EROC's fundraising efforts, grant and budget management, maintaining healthy relationships with partners and organizations, and serving as the face of the organization in addition to various other responsibilities.
Davidson's advocacy efforts have been featured in several media outlets including the New York Times, the Washington Post, TIME magazine and Good Morning America, among others. She has presented around the country with various groups, including The United State of Women Summit, The National Network to End Domestic Violence and Google. Davidson also serves on the Ending Violence Against Women Advisory Council at the Biden Foundation.
Davidson earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Denver and holds an Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Georgetown University.
Prior to her position with EROC, Carroll served as the director of Campus Projects at the New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NYSCASA). While with NYSCASA, she collaborated with students, rape crisis center advocates and college administrators to form best practices to address collegiate violence. She also managed NYSCASA's statewide consortium and delivered a social justice-oriented education and training program for its membership.
Carroll has presented workshops at several national conferences and is a trained facilitator in Restorative Justice (RJ). She is also a board member of the Campus Advocacy and Prevention Professionals Association (CAPPA) and a certified New York State rape crisis center advocate.
Carroll earned a Bachelor of Arts in government from Franklin and Marshall College.
