Kutztown University, American Honors Sign Collaboration Agreement

Kutztown, PA (04/12/2017) — Kutztown University signed a collaboration agreement with American Honors on Wednesday, April 12. The three-year agreement allows students in the American Honors program to easily transfer to KU to finish a bachelor's degree. The institutions will work together to attract high-quality transfer students to KU by including the university in its list of four-year partners. American Honors will actively promote KU as an attractive transfer destination to students at its partner colleges across the US and internationally.

This will include, but not be limited to:

Hosting virtual webinars targeted at American Honors students who are a good fit for the University;

Supporting the university's recruiting efforts from emerging economies, such as Vietnam, where American Honors has full-time staff, and the more than 30 countries where American Honors has developed partnerships by promoting a more affordable 2+2 pathway for high potential students;

Developing and promoting specific pathways to those university degree programs that are most eager to attract additional transfer students;

Helping the university to identify transfer students that can help meet specific enrollment priorities (e.g. for veterans, under-represented student groups, particular degree programs);

Waive the university's application fee for American Honors students;

The agreement also provides for the following benefits for students:

Reverse Articulation - Where American Honors students transfer to the university prior to completion of the associate's degree (i.e., A.A. or A.S.), KU agrees that if a student grants permission , it will send America Honors a copy of the student's transcript at the end of the sophomore year, so that the community college partner can recognize those credits and award the student the A.A. or A.S. degree;

Conditional Acceptance - KU will provide a conditional acceptance letter for American Honors applicants who indicate that the University is their top choice for transfer, provided that they graduate from the AH program in good academic standing, earn an Associate's Degree, and meet or exceed the targeted CGPA;

Honors to Honors - Provide suitably qualified American Honors students (with a 3.25+ CGPA and B or better in all courses) who have obtained the Associate degree with an offer to join the Honors Program and take advantage of Honors Housing. Students must maintain a minimum 3.25 CGPA and will have completed 12 credits in Honors, a requirement that will be noted on their American Honors Program transcript. A maximum of 12 credits can be transferred into the University's Honors Program.

American Honors, one of the most prestigious community college honors programs, is a program offered at select community colleges across the country. While academic rigor is the hallmark of every honors program, American Honors provides an additional level of support and community. The program is offered at the Community College of Philadelphia, Union County College and Mercer County Community College, both in New Jersey.
