Kutztown, PA (01/10/2019) — Kutztown University and HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, signed a five-year transfer and articulation agreement on Thursday, Jan. 10, facilitating the transfer of HACC students to Kutztown University, effective immediately.

Under this transfer and articulation agreement, HACC students who submit a letter of intent to enter Kutztown University before the completion of 30 transferable credit hours, will be guaranteed admission into a bachelor's degree program. Students will have third-year (junior) status at Kutztown University on the condition that they graduate from HACC with an associate degree and satisfy all other Kutztown University transfer requirements, including any admission requirements for the major.

Full-time students admitted with third-year (junior) status to Kutztown University should be able to complete a bachelor's degree in a parallel program at Kutztown University within four regular semesters. HACC transfer-student access to particular programs will be the same as native Kutztown University students.

In addition, Kutztown University agrees to accept the general education requirements embedded in the HACC Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees and apply these requirements in their entirety towards Kutztown University's general education requirements. This agreement applies to all HACC A.A. and A.S. graduates and is limited to students who participate in this agreement.

"This new agreement will allow us to work together to change our students' lives," Kutztown University President Dr. Kenneth S. Hawkinson said. "We currently have 61 HACC graduates at KU, 21 this past year, and we hope to significantly increase these numbers in the coming years."

HACC was established in 1964 and is the first and largest of Pennsylvania's 14 community colleges. HACC offers approximately 100 career and transfer associate degree, certificate and diploma programs to approximately 19,000 students.

"We're excited about the advantage and the benefit this will provide to our students," HACC President Dr. John J. Sygielski said. "From book scholarships to housing opportunities, we're very grateful to all of those at Kutztown and HACC who helped make this a reality. Our job together is to change lives and destinies, and we're not that far. We look forward to enhancing and developing that relationship."

Comprising four colleges - Business, Education, Liberal Arts and Sciences and Visual and Performing Arts - Kutztown University of Pennsylvania offers a wide range of outstanding academic programs to prepare individuals for successful careers. Located on 289 acres, the campus is adjacent to the Borough of Kutztown in Berks County, Pennsylvania.
