Kutztown University SBDC to Host Meet & Greet Expo March 20

Kutztown, PA (03/11/2019) — Since 1993, the Kutztown University Small Business Development Center (KUSBDC) has managed a long history of successful entrepreneurial development programs, growing to be recognized as a leader in the country for innovation, high-quality service and outreach to underserved populations. The KUSBDC invites the public to join it as it welcomes clients, students and staff to celebrate the third annual America's SBDC Day on Wednesday, March 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the McFarland Student Union Building's Formal Dining Room, room 223.

For nearly 40 years, the America's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network has helped aspiring and emerging small business owners achieve the American dream of entrepreneurship. To celebrate the collective impact and success SBDCs have across the nation and in local communities each year, America's SBDCs from around the country will come together for one special day to celebrate their work, impact and most importantly their clients - America's small businesses.

SBDC Day is a national movement to help share small business success stories and the notable impact SBDCs have fostered in communities nationwide. Join the KUSBDC as it celebrates the day with clients, the Kutztown community, small business administration officials, and the Department of Community & Economic Development staff, as well as with recognizable Kutztown small businesses and KU students.

Light refreshments and networking opportunities will be available, as this time is meant to celebrate entrepreneurial development and its impact on the nation.

Last year, KU was designated as the new lead office for the PA-SBDC, one of 62 host organizations nationwide. Host organizations operate nearly 1,000 local centers providing free, or low-cost, business consulting and training to the local small business community. As a host organization, the PA-SBDC is responsible for the financial and programmatic oversight of the 18 local centers across the commonwealth. Prior to the designation in July 2018, the network was headquartered at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School for 37 years.

The state and regional Small Business Development Center networks provide free one-on- one consulting to small businesses at nearly 1,000 locations throughout the nation. A new business is opened by an SBDC in-depth client every 35.7 minutes; a new job is created in the U.S. by an SBDC in-depth client every 5.6 minutes; $100,000 in new sales are generated by SBDC in-depth clients every 7.5 minutes; and $100,000 in capital is obtained by SBDC in-depth clients every 8.9 minutes.
