Kutztown University Wind Ensemble to Present "Bookmarks and the Stories They Tell"

Kutztown, PA (02/27/2018) — The Kutztown University Wind Ensemble will host its annual spring concert entitled "Bookmarks & The Stories They Tell.", on Saturday, March 3 at 3 p.m. in Schaeffer Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

The ensemble is under the direction of Professor Daniel Neuenschwander. The performance will include "Mangulina" by Paul Basler; "Eviler Elves" by James Kazik; "The Immovable Do" by Percy Aldridge Grainger; "Acrostic Song" by David Del Tredici; Symphony No. IV" by Julie Giroux and "Minnesota March" by John Philip Sousa.

The Kutztown University Wind Ensemble is comprised of the top woodwind, brass, and percussion students at the university who have demonstrated a commitment to a high level of musicianship. The group has performed at both Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. The Wind Ensemble seeks to expose its audiences and membership to the finest wind literature, including the "classics" of the repertoire, transcriptions, and new works by both established and young, up-and-coming composers. The ensemble is active in commissioning new compositions for the wind medium, and has recently joined commissioning consortia for works by Donald Grantham, Richard Danielpour, Jonathan Newman, Rob Smith, Bob Mintzer, Philip Glass, and Joan Tower, among others. Outstanding student, faculty, and visiting artists typically appear as soloists with the Wind Ensemble.
