Neuenschwander Named Outstanding Advisor by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education
Kutztown, PA (04/27/2017) — Mary Neuenschwander, associate director for alumni relations with the Kutztown University Foundation, has been named Outstanding Advisor by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Affiliated Student Advancement Programs (ASAP) for District Two. Neuenschwander was nominated by members of the KU Presidential Ambassadors for which she is advisor.
"Mary is always willing to lend a helping hand to students in need," said Alexander Nguyen, a student ambassador. "Mary always has her door open and if ever she sees students walking by she calls them in and just asks them how our day, week, month, or semester is going. This act may seem small but as a student it is refreshing to know someone is watching your back."
"Mary has completely turned our ambassador program around," said Alex Ogeka, senior director of development and alumni relations. "When she began there were less than 20 students involved and there was no vision or mission. Today we have more than 50 students and they all know and understand their roles."
Neuenschwander, of Kutztown, Pa., has been with the KU Foundation since 2012. Prior to that she was an elementary and middle school teacher in Illinois and Ohio. She has a bachelor's degree from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, and a master's degree from New York University. Neuenschwander also completed graduate work at Oxford University, Oxford, England, and the Thorpe School, Bradford, England.
CASE has eight districts covering all of North America. District Two comprises all institutions in Pa., N.J., Del., W. Va., N.Y., District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Ontario, Canada.
The national award will be given to one of the district winners in August.
CASE is an international association of educational institutions serving the advancement professionals who work on their behalf in alumni relations, communications, development, marketing and allied areas. CASE helps its members build stronger relationships with their alumni and donors, raise funds for campus projects, produce recruitment materials, market their institutions to prospective students, diversify the profession and foster public support of education.
CASE ASAP comprises student alumni associations, student foundations and similar organizations at more than 300 CASE member institutions. Its goal is to foster and enhance student involvement in all areas of advancement.
