Philosophy Department to Hold Fourth Annual Philosophy and Poetry Day April 10

Kutztown, PA (04/03/2019) — Kutztown University's Philosophy Department will hold its fourth annual Philosophy and Poetry Day on Wednesday, April 10, at 4:30 p.m. in the McFarland Student Union Building, Room 223. Philosophy and Poetry Day showcases the exciting interaction between the fascinating areas of philosophy and poetry. The event is free and open to the public.

This year's Philosophy and Poetry Day is dedicated to the celebrations of the 745th Anniversary of the Death of Jalal ud Din Rumi, the great Mystic poet of Islam. M. Ashraf Adeel, Professor of Philosophy, will begin the event with a lecture titled "Aesthetics of Love in Rumi."

There will be poetry readings by Barbara Crooker, an award-winning widely published poet who resides in Fogelsville, Pa. Other poets include Heather H. Thomas, Cedar Crest College; Sandra Fees, Berks County Poet Laureate; M. Ashraf Adeel, Philosophy Department; Brandon Krieg, English Department; Colleen O'Brien; and student poets.

The event is co-sponsored by the Association of Campus Events (ACE) and the English Department.
