Kutztown University of Pennsylvania

Kutztown University inducted eight students into the Kappa Mu Epsilon National Honorary Mathematics Society. KME is a specialized honor society in Mathematics. KME was founded in 1931 to promote the interest of mathematics among undergraduate students. Its chapters are located in colleges and universities of recognized standing which offer a strong mathematics major.

Kutztown University has inducted 37 students into Tau Sigma National Transfer Honor Society. This is the first class for the society at KU. Tau Sigma was incorporated in 1999 at Auburn University. Today there are more than 175 chapters across the country.

Fourteen Spanish majors and minors were inducted into the Kutztown University chapter of Sigma Delta Pi National Hispanic Honor Society. Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society (La Sociedad Nacional Honoraria Hispanica), was established on Nov. 14, 1919, at the University of California Berkeley. The national headquarters is located at the College of Charleston in South Carolina.

Two students, Harleigh Ortman and Alex Green, have been inducted into the Delta Phi Alpha National German Honor Society at Kutztown University. Delta Phi Alpha began at Wofford College in 1929 and now has constituent chapters at 273 colleges and universities throughout the United States. Delta Phi Alpha, seeks to recognize excellence in the study of German and to provide an incentive for higher scholarship.

Twelve Kutztown University students were inducted into Gamma Theta Upsilon (GTU) Geographical Honor Society. Gamma Theta Upsilon was founded in 1928 and became a national organization in 1931. GTU chapter activities support geography knowledge and awareness. A student must have a 3.3 overall grade point average and a 3.3 grade point average in geography to qualify for membership.

Three Kutztown University students took their research to the Pa. state capital on April 25. Danielle Cannon, Carly Plesic and Austin Stoudt participated in the annual Undergraduate Research at the Capital event.

Alison Kopsco has received the Alpha Kappa Delta Outstanding Senior Award at Kutztown University. Alpha Kappa Delta seeks to acknowledge and promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology,the research of social problems and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition.

Kutztown University has inducted 10 sociology majors and minors in to the Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta Honor Society. Alpha Kappa Delta seeks to acknowledge and promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology, the research of social problems and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition.

Zachary Lawlor has received the Outstanding Student Award from the Delaware Valley Geographical Association at Kutztown University. He is a senior studying applied geography.

Brittany Larkin, from Cranberry Township, Pa., has been awarded a Gold Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Emma Osle, a graduating senior from Sinking Spring, Pa., has been awarded a Gold Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Margariete Malenda, a graduating senior from Fleetwood, Pa., has been awarded a Gold Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Nathaniel Benjamin, of Zionsville, Pa., has been awarded a Silver Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Adam Cooper, of Palmyra, Pa., has been awarded a Silver Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Chelsea Johnson, of Lititz, Pa., has been awarded a Silver Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Jordan Morgan of Philadelphia, Pa., has been awarded a Silver Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Trevor Arnold, of Tamaqua, Pa., has been awarded a Copper Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Emma Billig, of Kutztown, Pa., has been awarded a Copper Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Alaina Curry, of York, Pa., has been awarded a Copper Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Kayla Fusselman, of Kempton, Pa., has been awarded a Copper Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Emily Bogner, of Lancaster, Pa., has been awarded a Copper Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Madalyn Slook, of Harleysville, Pa., has been awarded a Copper Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Jennica LeClerc, of West Chester, Pa., has been awarded a Copper Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Jiao Xu, of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, has been awarded a Copper Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Daniel Aston has been awarded the Bright and Lucille Beck Award in American History at Kutztown University. Bright W. Beck was a 1907 graduate of Keystone State Normal School (KSNS). He was chair of the social studies department at KSNS and Kutztown State Teachers College. He later became dean of men at the school, retiring in 1951. He passed away in 1970.

Carolyn Wasser has been awarded the Anthony J. Mazzaferri Award for Distinguished Scholarship in History at Kutztown University. The award was established in memory of Dr. Anthony J. Mazzaferri, former professor of history, by Dr. Annette Mazzaferri, wife and emerita professor of speech and theater.

Lucas Fick has been awarded the The Richard J. Yashek scholarship at Kutztown University. The Richard J. Yashek scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman.

Shiyi Ding has been awarded the Dr. Victor Story Scholarship at Kutztown University. The Dr. Victor Story Scholarshipis awarded to a student showing interest in Mexican, Mexican American or Latin American History.

Evan Musto has been awarded the Esther Willits History Scholarship at Kutztown University. The Esther Willits History Scholarship is awarded to a sophomore history major, history with paralegal major or a secondary education/social studies major with good academic standing. This scholarship is the legacy of the late Dr. Esther Willits, a KU alumna, former professor of history and a founding member of Kutztown University's Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society chapter.

Gregory W. White of Coopersburg, Pa., has been awarded the Anthony J. Mazzaferri History Scholarship at Kutztown University. The Anthony J. Mazzaferri scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior history major, history with paralegal major or a secondary education/social studies major with good academic standing. This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Anthony J. Mazzaferri, former professor of history, by Dr. Annette Mazzaferri, wife and emerita professor of speech and theater.
