Kutztown University's men's 4x800m relay team made history for the second straight year at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Last year, a school-record was set. Saturday, that record was broken again in a title-winning run at Mansfield University. The quartet of Naeb Mengisteab, Devonte King, Andrew Thompson and Jared Luckanitz turned in the best relay of their careers.

The Kutztown University men's basketball team has chosen three senior student-athletes to be team captains for the upcoming 2016-17 season, to lead the Golden Bears to another hopeful division title-winning, and NCAA Tournament-bound season. Austin Beidelman and Josh Johnson return as captains for the second straight year, and will be joined by fellow senior Ryan Connolly.

Kutztown University senior Anna Behm was honored once again for her work both on the field and in the classroom by being named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District At-Large team

Kutztown University's Ryan Baron was recognized by the Tri-County American Red Cross at its annual Berks County Heroes Breakfast as the recipient of this year's Adult Good Samaritan Heroes Award.

The Career Development Center offers two career development certificates each year that helps students become stronger, more confident & successful students and future employees. The Freshman/Sophomore Exploration certificate allow students to gain a greater understanding of themselves and the career development process. Anna Behm of the field hockey team and Matt Martoccio of the wrestling team were recently selected as the 2016 Kutztown University Male and Female Senior Athletes of the Year.

Kutztown University education major Brittany Larkin has been awarded the Pennsylvania – Delaware Chapter of the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (Penn-Del AER) Student of the Year Education Scholarship. Larkin is a junior from Cranberry Township, Butler County, Pa. She competed against graduate students and working professionals for the award.

Kutztown University has inducted 14 sociology majors and minors in to the Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta Honor Society. Alpha Kappa Delta seeks to acknowledge and promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology,the research of social problems and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition.

Matt Martoccio of the Kutztown University wrestling team and Anna Behm of the field hockey team were recently selected as the 2016 KU Male and Female Senior Athletes of the Year during Kutztown's annual All-Sports Banquet.

Redshirt-senior quarterback Chad Barton of the Kutztown University football team was recently named to the 2016 National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society. The NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career. Each player also had to be a starter or significant contributor in their last year of eligibility.

Joshua Steinberg of Huntingdon Valley, Pa., a 2015 graduate of Kutztown University, won a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) grant to travel to Germany for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Lisamarie Feliciano is the recipient of the Copper Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award. The award is one of the most prestigious honors given at Kutztown University.

David Grow has been awarded a Chambliss Academic Achievement Gold Medal by Kutztown University.

Kutztown University has awarded the Criminal Justice Department's Academic Excellence and Community Service Award to Christopher Kalbfell and Erica Yurvati. The award is granted each year to two graduates of our program who have distinguished themselves academically, while making important contributions to the department, University and community.

The Kutztown University Department of Criminal Justice inducted 28 new members into the Alpha Phi Sigma Honor Society. Alpha Phi Sigma is the national criminal justice honor society. It was founded in 1942 at Washington State University and became affiliated with the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS) in 1976. Today there are almost 300 Alpha Phi Sigma chapters around the country. KU's Kappa Alpha chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma was established in Spring 2008 with 13 founding members. The chapter advisors are Dr. Pietro Toggia and the assistant advisor is Dr. AnnMarie Cordner. To be eligible for membership, a student must be a criminal justice major or minor, have completed at least 40 credit hours, including at least four criminal justice courses, have an overall QPA of 3.2 or higher, and have a QPA in criminal justice courses of 3.2 or higher.

Eleven Spanish majors and minors were inducted into the Kutztown University chapter of Sigma Delta Pi National Hispanic Honor Society, on April 11. Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society (La Sociedad Nacional Honoraria Hispánica), was established on November 14, 1919, at the University of California Berkeley. The national headquarters is located at the College of Charleston in South Carolina.

Dustin Ciano has been awarded the Gary and Laree Trollinger Scholarship for a Promising Music Educator by the Kutztown University Department of Music.

Kutztown University Graduate Organization of Bands awarded two Reid F. Lessig Scholarships to freshmen music students on April 18. The awards were presented to Rachel Miller of Lebanon, Pa., and Anthony Rodriguez Jr., Elysburg, Pa.

Kutztown University Department of Music has announced Joseph Coco of Topton, Pa., as the first Presser Scholar at Kutztown University. Funded through a grant from The Presser Foundation, the Presser Scholar is awarded to an outstanding music student finishing his or her junior year and at least one-third of the student's credits over four years must be outside the field of music.

Kutztown University inducted five members into its inaugural class of SALUTE National Honor Society.

Kutztown University honored 35 students at the annual Gamma Sigma Alpha induction. Gamma Sigma Alpha is a national honor society for students who are members of a social Greek organization and have at least a 3.5 GPA in their junior or senior year.
